Plainmoor the destination for Monday's 'must win' game

Monday sees United take on Braintree at Plainmoor in what is a massive match for everyone associated with Torquay United Football Club. The fight for survival is coming down to the wire, and we need the three points to keep in the mix.

“Braintree is a huge ‘must win’ game and I think it is the same for both clubs which makes it even more interesting,” said Torquay United player-manager Kevin Nicholson.

Despite being in the fight for survival, the Gaffer sees Braintree as carrying a threat on multiple fronts.

“They are a physical team with Cheek and Midson both knowing this level well, along with Chez Isaac in midfield who is a very good footballer,” added Nicholson.  “Add that to the pace of Braham-Barrett and they are going to have threats that we will need to nullify. We need to impose our game onto them.”

The four point gap between us and the Iron needs to be down to just one point by the end of the day.

“It goes without saying that this is the biggest game we have had all season, and once again we are going to need our amazing support to get behind our lads.

Nicholson will be hoping that winger Dan Sparkes recovers from a groin injury to play a part and add to the six goals he has so far this season. Whatever XI the Gaffer puts on the pitch, it will have to live with the pressure that will come from playing in a game that will help decide our season.

“The picture in football changes incredibly quickly, and a win on Monday will give us all a huge boost going forward. Monday is all that matters right now so please get down to Plainmoor and help this group achieve our goal of survival. It is all in our hands and we won’t stop until it is over.”

All stands need to be as one on Monday. Whether you are in Bristows Bench, the Family Stand, or in the Popular Terrace, join in the songs and make some noise!
