United under the floodlights tonight - kick-off 7:45pm

Buoyed by Saturday’s 2-1 win over Southport, the Gaffer leads his men against one of the toughest tests in the National League tonight when Tranmere Rovers come to Plainmoor.

Tranmere drew 1-1 against Macclesfield Town in the first leg of their Buildbase FA Trophy semi-final on Saturday. Their return leg comes on Saturday so the Gulls could benefit from a team that has one eye on the final.

United have reasons to be confident too, after goals from Luke Young and a first for Ruairi Keating against Southport ended a run of five games without a win. United defender Sean McGinty was picked out by the Non-League Paper to be included in their Team of the Day.

Torquay United player-manager Kevin Nicholson is wary of the threat that Tranmere pose.

“Tranmere is one of the hardest teams to prepare for in this league as they are happy to change formations over and over again, they have played pretty much every formation in the book this season alone but they have the squad quality and depth to be able to do it.

“They are full of experience and leadership as well as having physical presence all over the pitch and no shortage of ability. They will without doubt be in the mix come the end of April.

The Gaffer will be looking for more of the same from his men, even though the challenge comes in a different form.

“The pressure Tranmere have is different to ours, they're expected to win every game and it's up to our lads to show what they can do up against some of the league’s best players.”
