HIS manager had described the game as an “acid test’ and the opening moments of Daniel Leadbitter’s performance against Yeovil on Tuesday night looked like he might fail.
Fortunately, the young full-back grew into the game and ended up giving his best display since signing for the Gulls 15 months ago.
“The Johnstone’s Paint Trophy is a competition where you can use your bench and Danny started nervously in the first 20 minutes, but once he got into the game, he made some great headers in the first half and some great clearances in the second half,” said boss Martin Ling.
“We have been waiting for Leadbitter to come to fruition over the last 15 months and he had his best game in a Yellow shirt last night.
“I know I’ve got people on the bench who can do the job and I will have some selection posers for Bristol Rovers on Saturday.”
