UNITED striker Ryan Jarvis has agreed a deal to join York City for the new season.
The Gulls had offered the versatile forward a contract to remain at Plainmoor but he has opted for a move to the Minstermen instead.
‘’Ryan did well for us last season and particularly in the game against York, so it’s not a huge surprise,’’ said United manager Alan Knill.
‘’We offered him a deal and to be fair, it wasn’t the most money. I more or less said to him that if someone came in with a better deal and at his age, with another baby coming, he would have to take that.
‘’York have offered him a good deal and we wish him the very best of luck. It is the time of year when this sort of thing can happen and we will do the same to others.
‘’We all have targets and it was one of those situations where Ryan didn’t have a choice. He did well for me at Torquay and good luck to him at York.’’
Ryan originally joined United in a loan deal toward the end of the 2011-12 campaign, signing a permanent contract the following summer.
He spent much of last season as either an understudy to main striker Rene Howe or operating from a right-wing position. Ironically, his stand-out moment of the year was a fabulous strike in the 2-1 March win over the club he has now left us to join.
