UNITED’S brand new grandstand, Bristow’s Bench, has been officially opened and is ready for business.
After an experimental game against Leeds United, the Bench welcomed the Yellow Army for the grand opening against Stoke City on Monday night, and what a resounding success.
This is no time for preening in the Yellow mirror, however, as we are now looking at the areas we need to improve to make the Bench even better.
Top of the list is an enhanced speaker system to improve the sound quality of our PA announcements and we are hopeful of installing the upgrade in time for the first league game against Cheltenham on August 21.
We are also very aware that the steps leading to the top of the Bench are very steep and we will be fitting handrails as soon as possible, although this is a surprisingly complex issue involving a number of regulations and external considerations. We will endeavour to keep fans informed of progress on these projects.
