THE gruelling pre-season campaign has thrown up two perplexing injury problems for United physio Damian Davey.
Midfielder Nathan Craig is suffering from a bruised foot, which looks likely to keep him out of the curtain-raiser against Leicester on Tuesday.
Winger Saul Halpin is also on the unexplained list with ankle trouble that needs further investigation.
“We have two injuries Damian Davey would describe as puzzling,” said manager Martin Ling. “Nathan Craig took a whack on his instep against Exeter and had an x-ray which showed nothing sinister, but he’s still getting the pain.
“He has also been for a scan and that showed bone-bruising, which can be really painful, especially in that area.
“He definitely won’t make Weston tonight, outside chance for Leicester but I’m pretty sure he will be available for Fleetwood [next Saturday]. Saul Halpin has got an injured ankle with unexplained swelling, which means he is swelling when not expected, so we’re exploring both of those.”
