Friday 29th July sees Torquay United AFC’S latest Community Day, with the event being held in conjunction with Torbay Council Children’s Service to raise funds for a new public defibrillator.

Following the success of the Club’s matchday community ventures last season, Friday 29th July will see a day of family fun take place on the lawn outside Boots & Laces, with a whole host of stalls and activities on offer to entertain all the family!

Between 1pm-7pm, the Plainmoor lawn will be a hive of fun and games, with a superb Prize Raffle and stalls from a number of leading local attractions and businesses showing off all that is best about the bay!

With members of both the Torquay United AFC and Torquay United Women squads due to be in attendance, there will plenty of opportunities for photos and autographs, whilst our famous mascot, Gilbert the Gull will also be around, with the Yellow Army invited to show off their skills with our Speed Goal and penalty shoot out-competition!

There’ll be plenty of food and drinks – not to mention ice creams – on offer, and with Boots & Laces also open for refreshments, this promises to be an occasion not to be missed, as the Torbay community once again unites together for this very worth cause!

A cardiac arrest can affect anyone at any time – whether you’re at home, work, or out in public – and with public defibrillators often proving to be the difference between life and death, finding one as quickly as possible is vitally important to help save someone’s life. Having a defibrillator located outside the stadium will not only be of benefit to those attending matches at Plainmoor, but also the local community.

Manager Gary Johnson is delighted to see the Club once again working together with the local community.

“Once again, the Club have come up with a great initiative,” said the Gaffer.

“Everywhere needs a defibrillator – I’m an expert on heart stuff! It’s a fantastic cause, and it’s great to involve the community again. The more times we can involve the community, the more we enjoy it. Well done to everyone, and we really, really look forward to seeing everyone, and we thank them for coming in anticipation, because it is an unbelievably good cause.”

TUAFC would like to thank Torbay Council, and all those businesses that have committed to attend, for supporting our latest Community Day.
