Not A Great Day For Us

Salisbury City 2 Torquay United 2

United boss Paul Buckle was far from happy with the 2-2 draw at Salisbury City: 'To be honest it was hard to keep up with some of the events in the game. It was littered with the referee's whistle and missed penalties from ourselves and sloppy play in front of goal so not a great day for us really. The game should have been dead and buried; we had three penalties, that game should have been over.

'It was good that Wayne Carlisle took responsibility for the second penalty but on the third one we should have done the same, I was shouting across for Nicky (Wroe) to take it because Wayne has already taken one but before that penalty the ball should have been in the back of the net, I don't know what happened. I cannot see how we didn't score that goal from open play, it should have been in the back of the net but it wasn't and we get out of jail with the third penalty and we don't convert that. In the end, and I never thought I would say this, I'm grateful for the point. I'm disappointed for the supporters because on Saturday three thousand turned up at Plainmoor and we should have delivered and today with another great turnout we should have produced better.

'I'm not happy with the sending off; I think Michael has let himself down. It was two silly challenges. If you keep eleven men on the pitch you always have a chance but if you are reckless and lose your head then you let everyone down including yourself.

'I'm not going to blame any individuals; I'm just going to say we should have produced better performances and won the last two games. I'm not happy, the players aren't happy and we need to liven ourselves up. We will be back on the training pitch tomorrow morning. Simple as that, it's the only way to put it right. We need to get back to basics because when we come to play at a place like Salisbury on, with all due respect, a terrible surface, we need to fight and scrap. It's not pretty but it is about winning.'
