Macclesfield 2 United 1

United boss Paul Buckle was at a loss to describe how the Gulls let a goal lead and comfortable position slip against Macclesfield in their latest League 2 game: 'All that will be in the papers tomorrow is that we have been beaten again and we are on a horrendous run of results. The performances are there and today I can't believe it, we were in total control and we should have been more than one goal up in fairness and then a crazy five minute spell when their two goals were carbon copies of each other with the ball bouncing around all over the place and we find ourselves 2-1 down. The players are demoralised and I feel for them but we cannot feel sorry for ourselves for too long because we have got a big game on Tuesday (home to Aldershot) and I'm sure that if we keep the performance levels the same as we did today we will not only win a game but go on a run.

'We had their goal at our mercy on three or four occasions and we got into some terrific positions when we moved the ball quickly but we didn't put the ball into the net and that is the difference at this level, you have got to put the easy chances away or else it will come back to bite you and that is what has been happening to us. To bring in better players in attack costs money and we haven't got that option available at the moment so we will work with what we have got and I'm happy to do that but it is a very frustrating time right now.'
