Notts County 2 United 2

United boss Paul Buckle spoke after his side's 2-2 draw at Notts County which stretched their unbeaten run in all competitions to four games: 'This was a fantastic draw for us, especially after being two goals down. It is very difficult to be in that situation when things have been going against you but we believed in ourselves and showed great character and we at least deserved a draw.

'Mark Ellis' goal just before the break proved very important for us but it was no more than we deserved and once we scored we gave ourselves a chance. What do you say to the players when you are 2-1 down at half-time at a place like this? Well, that is what I am paid to do, it's my job and it is a difficult situation at the moment because we aren't going through a great run of results but having said that today I was very proud of the players. We are good enough to be in this league and I want us to keep building.

'I actually thought we were going to win the match today, certainly at 2-2 we had chances. I thought we should have had a penalty for handball and we need things like that to go for us right now but the confidence is high now because we need to push up the league, we don't deserve to be down at the bottom.

'I knew Michael Poke was going to be busy, you aren't going to get a free day as a goalkeeper when you come to a place like this and it was important that Michael was on top form and he was. He has been brilliant for us for two seasons now and he is a pleasure to work with.

'We have been to Southampton and Notts County and drawn both times which is positive but we have to turn the draws into wins now, we know that. The supporters who followed us here today were superb and we are going to need all of the backing we can get because we have a little bit of catching up to do on and off the field at the club but as long as we keep showing the fighting spirit and qualities we showed today then we will move forward.'
