I Couldn't See Us Losing

United 1 Bradford City 2
A disappointed Paul Buckle spoke to the press after the 2-1 home defeat to Bradford: 'To be honest I couldn't see us losing, it was a game that we dominated in both the first and second half but if you don't put your chances away the game often does this to you. I've lost count this season how many times we have had opportunities to put games to bed and again today we haven't done it plus we haven't been strong enough at the other end.
'You could see that the players got a touch nervous. I believe in these players but we have got a fight on our hands now especially when you play as well as we did and get nothing from the game, which is the most frustrating part of it.
'Scott Rendell coming off didn't help us although that is no excuse for the defeat because we had chance after chance to win this game. Football can be tough on you and we have had it good over the last two seasons but trust me I am being tested to the full now. We have to start winning games; the players have to take responsibility out on the pitch for winning games. It's tough and it won't be easy and any spells in a game that you dominate you have to put the chances away. We feel very hard done by of late and I think the supporters today were as stunned as we were to lose this match. We aren't playing like a team that is struggling in the league, we just have to remain positive and keep going.
'I thought the support today was first class, they got right behind us and they understand what the players are going through.
'I am trying to take the club forward; supporters are welcome to ask me any question they like about that at the forum on Monday night. We are playing in a tough division against clubs the size of Bradford and we are getting absolutely nothing for our troubles at the moment.'
