I Thought We Were In Control

United 1 Crewe 1
United boss Paul Buckle wasn't too upset with the home point against Crewe at Plainmoor, a result which took the Gulls' unbeaten run to six matches: 'On reflection, over the full ninety minutes, I thought we were in control for probably seventy of them which is quite a chunk of the game. We were hoping to have more than a one goal cushion for our efforts because I thought we deserved it. You always run the risk when there is just a single goal in it. I thought we had a lot of half chances in and around their penalty area and if you don't take them it gives the other team something to build on. We have played a good side so we can't be too upset today. It is six games uneaten now and the players have put in another big shift today which they have done over the last two months.
' I was delighted with our goal, it was classic Zebroski , we played Chris on the left today because we lost (Ashley) Barnes back to Plymouth on Thursday and once he picked the ball up out wide he was always going to commit the defender and put the ball in the box for Scott Rendell. I think Scott probably only had one chance all day and he buried it, he hasn't played any football over the last four or five weeks and to come back and start today, just like Wayne Carlisle, I have to be happy with their input.
'There has been a good vibe around the place lately, it has been very positive, wins and draws give you momentum and give the players encouragement and confidence and if they have that then you always have a chance. We played some good football at times today we just couldn't quite finish the game off in the good spells that we had. We have had an enormous amount of change this season but we know have good combinations around the pitch and the last six matches have been a good return and shows that we are moving in the right direction.'
