Grimsby Town 0 United 3

United boss Paul Buckle gave his thoughts after United secured their League 2 status with a fine 3-0 win away at relegation threatened Grimsby Town: 'Today's match was very important, we all knew that and we were keen to continue where we had left off with some impressive performances and results of late and the players didn't let us down. The pitch didn't allow us to be at our fluent best at times and it was totally different game to the one at Aldershot where we could counter attack on the floor so we decided to push Scott (Rendell) back up top with Elliot (Benyon) and be a little more direct and it paid off.

'The players adapted well to the change of system and I'm proud of them because it has been a very tough season, we have three games to go and we have fifty points on the board. It takes some doing to stay in this league with such a young group. We have done some good things over the last three seasons at Plainmoor but I think this surpasses any of it.

'I've said before that change is difficult during a season, it isn't always healthy to have a change around but I thought I made the right changes at the right time and I trusted that things would come to fruition. We have got some very good young players here as you saw today, we are playing a good brand of football, we are good at our set-plays and things have come good for us at the right time. I have just thanked and congratulated the players in the dressing room because they have all come out of the Blue Square and have now started to cope well with League football.'
