Kee Hat-Trick Pleases Boss

Weymouth 1 United 5
There were 357 spectators watching United's pre-season friendly at Weymouth and a fair proportion were there following the Gulls and to see Paul Buckle's side make their summer 2010 'debut'. Along with goalkeeper Danny Potter, Billy Kee was a definite 'one to watch' as a new signing and Billy didn't let anyone down with a second half hat-trick which took the plaudits from a very solid squad performance which left Bucks a very satisfied manager: 'It's been a really pleasing day, I suppose the thing apart from the fitness workout is to come away unscathed from any injuries but to get the goals, with the way we scored them and the performance of the players is a fantastic start for us. We created three goals for Billy (Kee), one each for Eunan (O'Kane) and Elliot (Benyon) and played loads of good football in and around them so I can only be delighted.
The Gulls' boss was especially pleased with the input from his new striker: 'For his first game I thought Billy showed what a natural finisher he is, he worked hard and I'm sure our supporters are going to love him.
'We don't seem to have picked up any injuries, I thought Lathrope (trialist) did well in the second half and everyone came through a good workout which is pleasing.'
Paul also commented on a possible addition to the squad next week: 'I'm looking to maybe bring someone in up front to give us another dimension and hopefully that may be done on Monday but as yet nothing has been finalised.'
Friday afternoon saw Torquay United and the wider Torbay community pay their respects at the funeral of United vice-chairman Paul Bristow and Bucks was very appreciative of the support the team got at Weymouth: 'I would like to give a special mention to Thea Bristow and her family for their support at today's game. Considering the extremely stressful and emotional period they are coping with at the moment it was tremendous to see them at the match and I would like to thank them for making the time and effort to support the team. There were a number of our supporters today who were chanting Paul's name during the match and I hope that kind of gesture from the supporters and our performance against Weymouth gave Thea and her family some small comfort at such a difficult time.'
