Bucks was pleased with his team's performance against a strong looking QPR side that eventually ran out 3-1 winners in a Plainmoor friendly on Friday evening. The Gulls' boss stressed how hard the squad have been working over the last few weeks in an effort to get their fitness levels up to scratch ahead of the season opener against Northampton on 7th August: ''The players are working really hard at the moment, they are working every day including the mornings of the games. It is all about their fitness and their attitude has been superb. At the start of the game we were struggling to get into our stride against a very good side. We were up against a top team tonight who were out to impress their manager and that made it hard for us to get out of the traps. We went in at the break a goal down but in the second half, especially after the introduction of Martin Gritton who gave us something different, we were probably a little unlucky not to draw the game.

''Neil (Warnock) said that they got away with our goal which was disallowed but I'm also a bit disappointed with a couple of the goals we conceded, they were soft balls in and our timing was off a little bit at the back. There are one or two things we need to brush up on like our heading from the centre backs and getting our wingers to go down the outside and cross balls in but having said that we have got to be pleased with the way we played against opposition like Queens Park Rangers. They have a bit of money and some real quality players.

''I'm delighted with my players at the moment and things have gone well so far this summer.''
