Lincoln City 0 United 2
For the third time in a week at the start of the season Bucks had nothing but praise for his players as they secured a 2-0 victory at Lincoln City which kept the Gulls on top of npower League 2: ''I'm absolutely delighted, Lincoln put a bit of pressure on us, like we knew would happen and we spoke to the players about that at half-time but we did everything right. At the end I was disappointed Eunan (O'Kane) didn't score a goal because it was a fabulous move and our game plan worked a treat.
''Set-plays are a major part of the game for us; Chris Sutton alluded to that before the match that they would have to be on their guard. Kevin (Nicholson) has got a great delivery and if we make the runs that we practice in training we will get our rewards. The players have taken that practice on board and we didn't sit back, I wanted the players to press and try and get a second goal which we did and we were correct all over the pitch in a brilliant performance. I'm not sure how many hours it is now or even how many games but that record is something to be proud of.
''We went five in midfield when Eunan came on but there was no point in flying balls up front because we only had Elliot (Benyon) in between so I want the players to play their way out and we did exactly that. The second goal epitomised that and I thought Eunan was going to add to two excellent goals from Elliot and a great team performance.
''Eunan is desperate to play, ninety minutes is a long time and we now have a few different systems and shapes and Eunan is more than playing his part by coming on. We aren't afraid to play 4-5-1 because it isn't a negative formation because the way we play we keep the ball very well and Eunan looked a class act when he came on today.
''I'm hoping that Guy's (Branston) injury isn't too serious, he has a stiff calf and he is telling me he hasn't pulled it which if correct is a big relief because we don't want anyone else injured but having said that Kieran Charnock came on and showed that this is a squad thing. The squad are very close with a great team spirit and this is a really pleasing place to be at the moment, I'm enjoying watching the players train and play.
''We have another tough game next weekend with Bradford coming to us, we are playing against some big clubs at the moment and no-one gave us a chance at the start of the season but the players are doing us proud at the moment.''
