United 2 Bradford City 0

United continued their 100% start to the league season with a 2-0 win over Bradford City, a result which left Bucks a very pleased manager: ''I'm absolutely delighted; the players thoroughly deserved it against a good Bradford side. We started brilliantly through Danny Stevens and carried it on from there. I thought Danny's goal was a good goal, I've been encouraging Danny to come inside like he did and see some end product and we've worked on that, Danny has worked on that in training and today he caught their 'keeper out, I think the 'keeper was trying to get set but it has eluded him and gone in the bottom corner.

The Gulls got off to a perfect start with an early Danny Stevens goal but missed the chance to take a 2-0 lead when skipper Nicky Wroe had a penalty saved: ''You really want Nicky to slam the penalty home, he has been really consistent form the spot but it was a good save from the 'keeper. That wasn't easy to take and sometimes it can be hard against ten men but it would have been a travesty today if we didn't win the match. We kept our composure, Nicky certainly didn't hide after the penalty, we kept the ball well, we were patient, the crowd were patient and we all got our reward.

''Be patient was the message I was trying to get on the pitch to the players, let's try and find the extra man and really work Bradford but to do that you have got to move the ball and move it quickly. We didn't move it as quickly as I would have liked in the first half but once we got the message on the players responded very well, we were relaxed at the back and we kept switching the play and tried open Bradford up down the sides.

United also stretched their clean sheet record to 961 minutes: ''I'm thrilled for the players and the staff and everyone connected with the club because this is a great record. We needed Scott Bevan in the last five minutes as Bradford pressed and two-nil isn't always a comfortable scoreline but we stayed focused although we gave a couple of silly fouls away which put us under pressure. We dealt with any threat they had and we have come away with three points from a game we thoroughly deserved to win.''
