After a record breaking day at Port Vale Bucks has plenty to be delighted about, not least United setting a new club best for wins at the start of a season and an amazing total of 998 minutes without conceding a league goal before Port Vale's effort in the first half. A four game 100% record is something to be proud of although the United boss, speaking to the club website, is well aware that the scouting network up and down the country is showing more and more interest in his young charges: ''I fully expect my phone to be ringing on Monday with interest in some of our players. It is a fantastic achievement to be top of the league and we have another big game on Tuesday at Bournemouth followed with another away trip next Saturday so we are having to work very hard.

''The transfer window closes on Tuesday and we are hopeful that we will have everyone still here by the end of the day, I'm still expecting some calls, we have put in another great performance at Port Vale and we were watched by a host of scouts but you have to expect that level of interest when you are top of the league,'' Bucks told us.

Until they conceded a goal to Vale's Anthony Griffith in the 37th minute the Gulls hadn't conceded in the league since a Scott Bevan own goal against Shrewsbury on April 3rd. It is a club record that the current squad and management should be rightly proud of: ''I'm thrilled with today's performance and to go sixteen hours and thirty eight minutes without conceding a goal was an incredible achievement.

''I want to thank the supporters again today, we were able to go up to them after the match and we were literally within touching distance. The support we get home and away means the world to us.''
