Nicky began his career at Barnsley and made his Football League debut against Wigan Athletic in May 2003. After 5 years at the club including a loan spell at Bury he moved on to a brief stay at Hamilton in Scotland before securing himself a contract at York City. Nicky made 40 appearances for York last season and brought himself to the attention of Paul Buckle who made him an offer in May 2008. Nicky is a midfielder who likes to get forward and adds creativity to United's play alongside his work rate. Nicky was voted United's Player's Player of the Year for 2008/09. Last season in United's return to the Football League Nicky proved yet again that he is one of the most adept central midfielders at this level.
