BILLY Kee came through the academy at Leicester City with a prolific goalscoring record and he was rewarded with a professional contract in the summer of 2009.
On the very same day, the powerful forward was sent out on a six-month loan to Accrington Stanley after insisting he wanted first-team experience rather than sitting in the Foxes' reserve side.
A successful loan spell with Stanley was extended until the end of the season but his subsequent release from Leicester proved an opportunity for United to pounce.
He began life at Plainmoor with a tremendous pre-season campaign that brought eight goals in just four games but it would be end of November before he broke his duck at first-team level.
The sale of Elliot Benyon to Swindon Town gave Kee more regular opportunities in the second half of last season and the Northern Ireland Under-21 international responded with some terrific displays in our run to the Play-Off Final.
