Torquay United 4 AFC Bournemouth 0
This Youth Alliance match was switched on Friday to Bournemouth as the racecourse pitch was waterlogged but it made no difference as the youth team romped to an excellent four goal victory over Bournemouth.
The goals came from Ed Palmer with 2, Ray Spear and under 16 squad member Rob Wearne and manager Matt Williams was understandably pleased with the team's performance: 'I think it was probably our best performance this season, the boys were outstanding from start to finish. We set out to play a certain way and they did it very well. We had some of the under 16 squad with us and they also contributed in a positive way. It is an important time for our first and second year apprentices and they stood up to be counted.
'We were a goal up at half-time and we were dominating the match and we looked a threat in attack for the whole game. The squad hasn't played for a couple of weeks but they got straight back into it in a very positive way. We lost 3-2 to Bournemouth earlier in the season and we played a similar line-up in this match so it is good to see how some of the squad have progressed.'
