MICHAEL Poke came through the youth system at Southampton and spent unused loan spells at Oldham and Northampton before a brief stint at Woking.
The agile custodian first came to Yellow prominence with a brief move to Plainmoor in February 2008, when he worked alongside Martin Rice and Kenny Veysey in a goalkeeping triumvirate reunited this summer.
Injuries at Southampton prompted his recall but Poke would sign for the Gulls on a season-long loan in the summer until a thigh problem prematurely cut short the spell. The following campaign, he returned to TQ1 in another loan deal and starred in our first season back in League 2.
Following his release from Southampton, Poke signed a contract with Brighton but was never really given a chance with the Seagulls and a frustrating two years was only briefly interrupted by a temporary switch to Bristol Rovers.
His release from Brighton at the end of last season proved excellent timing for United, with manager moving quickly to secure his signature after the sale of Bobby Olejnik to Peterborough.
