United enter the festive period of games at home to Truro City on Boxing Day (3pm KO).

After last Saturday’s 3-0 win over Hampton & Richmond, manager Gary Johnson isn’t letting his players take anything for granted.

“It’s a game I have been looking forward to, along with my staff and the players,” said Johnson. “We knew it was on the horizon over the Christmas period, and we wanted to make sure we were in a healthy position going into the two Truro games.”

Truro City have been on a great run of form. Three wins out of the last five games has pulled them out of the relegation zone.

“Local derbies are always competitive and we have to be wary of Truro’s current form. They are in 7th spot i.e a play-off spot over the last ten games. Fortunately we find ourselves top after the same ten games. We have to respect the opposition for what they are doing now and understand that they’re as comfortable on our pitch as we are in this situation.”

Johnson is hoping that home advantage will make a difference on the day. The Yellow Army has been fantastic support for the team this season.

“I’m sure it will be a bumper crowd with the amount of interest in this game. We thank all of the supporters that turned up at Hampton & Richmond and hopefully we can put on a performance that is worthy of the entrance fee.”

Johnson has spoken about adding to his squad in recent weeks. Timing is everything according to the Gaffer.

“We won’t leave ourselves short when the right time comes. It is a period when we as a staff are very much looking into improving our squad for the rest of this season and for whatever may happen next season. At this moment in time our injuries concern two player, however we have Kyle Cameron back in the squad after serving his suspension.

“Enjoy the game, and make some noise!” added Johnson.
