Attacking midfielder Jake Gosling is extremely happy to return to 1st team duty.

Gosling made his return on Boxing Day against Eastleigh after recovering from a leg fracture. Coming off the bench in United’s 1-1 draw against Eastleigh was as a result of weeks of recovery work. Since then he has been building up fitness with appearances against Boreham Wood, Wrexham, and then the return fixture against Eastleigh last Saturday. It was against the Spitfires that he once again showed what an influential player he can be.

“It took me a couple of games to get back into the swing of things,” said Jake after training this morning.

“I thought I did ok against Eastleigh, but I should have scored. It is just nice to be playing games again but at the end of the day I’ve come back to win games. I’ll do everything I can to set up goals and score them.  I want to do well for the team so we can get that win.”

The clever forward is the type of player that can be a nightmare for opposition defences; picking the ball up in pockets of space and running at defenders. Gosling admits that he has greatly missed the buzz of match day.

“You miss it. Once you have been out you start to miss it. You get a bit down and when you see the lads out there you get a bit jealous. The fans here are quality so I was gutted to miss so much football. I am back now and playing in front of a crowd again and I have got that buzz back.”

United take on Bromley on Saturday, Gosling is expecting a tough encounter.

“I was injured the last time we played against them. Obviously they are having quite a good season, so it will be interesting. The lads have trained well this week so we’re looking forward to the game.”
