Head coach Gary Owers is currently on the search for a new striker to bolster his squad.

It has to be the right player for the Gaffer. While he remains open to the idea that the answer may still be among the players already at the Club, if he brings a player in, then it is because he is confident they will improve the squad.

“It is not a desperate search,” said head coach, Gary Owers.

“I fancy ‘Reidy’ [Jamie Reid] to get double figures and someone has got to join him [in scoring goals]. People  like ‘Youngy’ [Luke Young], maybe George Dowling, you think that they can weigh in with a few. I’d be more concerned if we weren’t making any chances. I think back to Halifax, Ebbsfleet, and Hartlepool and see how many chances we made in the three games. If we looked like a team that wasn’t threatening the opposition, I would be concerned.

“I think we have got player in the building that are capable, but they have to show that quickly. I’ve got a couple of trialists in this week and we’re having a look at them but it is difficult with no game to test them in, no trial game available. We don’t play development games as such, or as part of another league. They’re both strikers. If I can find the right one then I’ll try and bring them to the Club.

“There’s people out there that are available that I can bring in if I just wanted ‘a striker’ but hopefully I can pick the right one. The right one is the one that get us a few goals.”
