United head to the Shay with a fast-improving injury list, and players approaching a return to fitness after re-joining training.

George Dowling returned to training this week after playing for Bristol City’s U23 team in his bid to be ready for Saturday’s game. Jordan Lee continues his return to match fitness after a full week’s training. Sam Chaney (groin) and Yan Klukowski  have stepped up their training and Myles Anderson is expected to return to training next week. Forwards Jon-Paul Pittman (hamstring) and Jake Gosling (leg fracture) are making steady progress. We have interviews with Liam Davis, George Dowling, and Vincent Dorel on our Official TUFC TV channel.

Dowling’s return has pleased Torquay United head coach, Gary Owers.

“He is a welcome addition,” said Owers at his weekly press call. “I was able to use him at my first game up at Barrow. He started the game really brightly and he was a part of that performance that almost got us that win at Barrow.

“He is talented. If he can get back in the team and give us attacking options in midfield then that is what I would be looking for from him.”

Owers is pleased that performances have improved since his arrival at the Club, but results have to follow quickly according to the Gaffer.

“In terms of performances we have improved; in terms of picking up points we have improved slightly, or marginally. That is what we have to do now which is get them points on the board. First of all get off the bottom of the division and then look at what’s above. We’re trying to claw our way up the table and into a better position.

“I’ve told the players that I need their best game they’ve had this season out of all of them on Saturday. It is not a place for shrinking violets.”

“The games [we have played] have been close, but we need them to be closer. The games that are tight we need to force the issue.”

FC Halifax Town sit in 10th place in the National League Table. They have one win, two draws, and two losses from their last five games. Their top goal scorer is midfielder Matthew Kosylo with five league goals to his name so far this season.
