United return to National League South action on Saturday when they travel to Wealdstone FC.

The team is currently six games unbeaten with only 45 minutes against Woking falling short of the manager’s Gary Johnson expectations.

“It was important to get a good start,” said Johnson at his weekly press call. “You look at a couple of games in isolation, and then the next couple, and then the next couple, and to go six games [unbeaten] is a good little run. We had one really poor half against Woking where we lost 2-0, but then we came back and looked quite strong in the second half. In every game I have seen the attitude of the lads, and the taking on of information that we, the new regime, are trying to give them. Physically and mentally they’re on good form.

“Every game that’s in front of us we’re going to try and win.”

The Gaffer has been buoyed by the support from the Yellow Army at Plainmoor and away from home.

“I’ve been really pleased with the response. Everybody likes a winning team, of course, but there has been proper support in as much as people are paying through the turnstile. That’s when you know people want to be there. When they’re actually laying out their hard earned money to come and cheer us on and watch us play. That’s the main aim, for me anyway, because we’re in an entertainment business and I want to make sure that people enjoy coming to watch us.”

Wealdstone currently sit in 4th place in the National League South table with six wins, three draws, and three defeats from twelve game.

“They’ve got a fantastic pitch, and I’m looking forward to going there,” added Johnson. “I’ve got a lot of family in that area so it will be a bit of a family occasion as well.

“Last year they got very close to winning the league. They were right up there and then they dropped at the last minute. They look to me like a conference side. They’ve got strengths in all areas and they’ve got some players that are playing well and working hard. We know they’re individual players, we know what shapes they’ve been playing. They’ll have been watching us as much as we’ve been watching them because I think both teams see the other as good opposition.

Jake Andrews is a doubt for Saturday’s game due to fluid build-up on his knee. He is being assessed at his parent club Bristol City. Samir Nabi has begun full training this week along with Ryan Dickson who has a chance of making the match day squad. Jamie Sendles-White is unavailable due to injury. Alex Bass continues his rehab at his parent club, Portsmouth.

The game is to be FULLY SEGREGATED and your supporters have been allocated a section along the side of our ground which includes a covered seated area, an uncovered terrace area plus a tea bar that will serve hot and cold food and drinks plus toilets directly behind the dugouts.

Entry to the AWAY turnstiles is up the path along the side of our clubhouse (which is home supporters only) and there will be stewards guiding people to them.
