United face Eastleigh at Plainmoor on Saturday in the rearranged fixture originally due to take place on New Year’s Day.

Torquay United head coach Gary Owers is well aware of how the different sides come into Saturday’s match.

“They’ve had a good result last week and will be coming into the game with a bit of confidence,” said TUFC head coach, Gary Owers. ” We had a setback and will have to dig in. We’re going to attack the game. We have to start winning games so we have to be on the front foot and really go out there on Saturday and claim the three points.

“We might have to play in a different way and whatever I do, the main aim is to try and win. I’m very aware of the situation that we’re in but I still think we can get out of it and no-one’s going to change my belief. Hopefully, that can start against Eastleigh.”

Owers gave an incite into how the team builds up to match day throughout the week.

“I try to set up things during the week where if I know that I’ve got three or four midfielders that will feature in the team then I’ll do some work on that particular unit on one day, and try and pull it all together on a Friday. We’ll do a bit of shape [training], set-plays like we always do. We do spend a lot of time practicing them and people will have you believe that we don’t but we do, and that’s the frustration because it is what happens on the day and who can execute under a little bit of pressure on a match day.”

Josh Gowling and Yan Klukowski are back in full training after an extended time out with injury. Both players are unlikely to make the match day squad as they train to regain fitness. New signings Conrad Balatoni, Reece Mitchell, and Aaron Barnes come into consideration for Saturday’s game. A slight doubt over Balatoni’s inclusion was solved today when his international clearance was received by the Club.

The Spitfires have three draws and two fins from their last five matches. They had a morale-boosting 4-2 win over Guiseley in their last match. Cav Miley, Chris Zebroski, Mark Yeates, and Callum Howe found the net to put the Spitfires in 15th place in the National League. Ex-Gull Chris Zebroski is a man in form and has scored four goals in his last seven games.
