United have little time to rest after Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Tranmere Rovers at Plainmoor. The frenetic nature of the National League gives little room for teams to get too caught up in their previous performances. The next match comes too quickly.

United will remember their last trip to Aldershot with fond memories. United were looking for points wherever they could find them in the run-in last season, and a draw against Aldershot at the EBB Stadium was gratefully received. A goal from Ruairi Keating was enough to continue United’s run of decent results and performances that eventually led them away from the National League trap door.

Player-manager, Kevin Nicholson was pleased with Saturday’s performance against Tranmere, but he will be hoping that his team shows a little more cutting edge against the Shots. United showed enough tenacity against Tranmere to show that they are ready for the fight this season. The Shots started brightly too, dispatching newly-promoted Halifax Town 2-0 on Saturday with goals from ex-Torquay United loanee, Shamir Fenelon, and James Rowe.

Aldershot Town have added left-back Chris Arthur to their ranks having just been released by Crawley Town. The Shots have been very busy in the transfer market adding former Cheltenham and Tranmere midfielder James Rowe, former Bristol City defender Kodi Lyons-Foster, former Hitchin Town striker Shaun Okijie, and Bobby-Joe Taylor from Maidstone among others.

We’ll be bringing you more build-up to the match on Tuesday.
