United take on the National League leaders on Saturday in a bid to end a win-less streak that has stretched to nine games.

“It doesn’t phase me,” said TUFC head coach Gary Owers when asked about taking on 1st place Macclesfield Town.

“We’ll be going up there and no-one will be giving us a hope in hell’s chance and just a day for us to go up there and spring a surprise.”

A trip to the league leaders might normally be an occasion when the pressure is on the home side to claim three points. United are not in a position where they can necessarily take advantage of that, they need points and fast. Macclesfield will be on their guard after a surprise 6-0 defeat to AFC Fylde in their last match.

“We’re not in a situation where we can afford to relax too much. They got well and truly beaten at the weekend 6-0 and where did that come from? They’ll be the wounded animal and they’ll be looking at our game probably as the best game they could’ve had after that result.”

The Gaffer was buoyed over how the players have bounced back from last Saturday’s defeat to Bromley FC.

“I always look at how the players how they come in training after a defeat and they came in really, really good on Monday morning. The spirit was good despite of the circumstances. We’ve had a good week on the training ground and I’m hopeful we can put something together to be competitive again on Saturday.”

UPDATE: Midfielder Damon Lathrope has joined Woking FC today [Friday] and striker Brett Williams has rejoined the Club after signing from Bromley. Williams goes straight into the team to face the Silkmen.

Jon-Paul Pittman returned to full training on Thursday but Saturday may come too soon for him to be involved. Josh Gowling has been able to participate in most of the training sessions heading into Saturday’s match and could play a part. Jennison Myrie-Williams sustained a back injury during training this week and is a doubt for Saturday’s match. Yan Klukowski might be available for Saturday’s game after receiving treatment on his groin injury. Ryan Higgins is away from the Club for personal reasons.
