The ladies made the early start to Eastleigh setting off at 7.45am for the long journey to Southampton. This was the first round qualifying for the ladies and also the first game of the new season. With a new squad of 20 players signed on competition for places high, the quality of football is the highest it’s ever been.

The ladies prepared well, and were ready and buzzing for the game. The game started lively and brightly with Sian Chapman scoring within the first minute of play through some great pressing on the ball.

Two more goals before half time. One from a superb corner from Rhi Bailey which was met by the advancing Daisy Self with a bullet header into the net. The other from Steph Beck who showed her class by turning her defender and lofting her shot past the keeper. 0-3 half time.

The second half started with Eastleigh looking to get back into the game, but the well organised defence of Smith, Wakley, Sheppard and Rogers were not to be beaten and keeper Marshall was showing her class in between the sticks. Georgia Mann had a few chances to score, converted one but was later ruled offside. 55th minute

Eastleigh made some changes to try and get back into the game but TULFC were working exceptionally hard and couldn’t be broken down. On minute 58 Steph Beck scored her second reacting first to the keeper dropping her save. 59th minute Steph scored the goal of the game with a left footed half volley from 20yards out top corner leaving the keeper with no chance. 60 minutes another goal for Beck to wrap up the game and her 4th goal.

Overall this was a stunning performance from the ladies. Management and coaching team are incredibly proud of the players and the performance today. Everything we have worked on in Pre season came into action. Beck and Chapman were a class act up front, Rhi Bailey was exceptional in midfield and she really doesn’t realise how good she is.

The next round will be played on the 17th September vs AFC Bournemouth with a 2pm kick off. This game will be played at Plainmoor so come along and show your support for the ladies!
